Should triathletes lift weights?

Next question...

But for real!

Getting into the gym and lifting (and lifting heavy!) has huge benefits on your triathlon training

For starters, strong muscles fatigue slower. Slower fatigue means lowering your risk of injury. Who doesn't want that?

Also, lifting helps you even out muscle imbalances you may have. A balanced body moves better.

Weight lifting is especially beneficial in the winter. There's less daylight, pool water feels colder and sometimes the thought of another spin on the trainer sounds miserable.

Weight lifting during the winter allows you to maintain fitness and avoid burning yourself out with workouts that take every ounce of mental fortitude to do.

Injury prevention. Better movement. Keeping you from burnout. And we haven't even touched on the performance benefits that come with being stronger!

Have you spent time in the gym lately? If not, we highly recommend it. Even if it's one day a week, it'll pay off in the long run!
